Many homeowners are worried about the question. The house has a floor heating system and solar collectors installed on the roof for heating water. It is of interest whether it is possible to connect solar collectors so that, if necessary, it is possible to use the energy of the Sun to work the system of warm floors and year -round support for hot water.
If so, what changes need to be made in the system? Of course, the use of a solar collector, as a heat source in the heating system and its distribution across the house, is theoretically possible. But in most cases, it makes no sense. Solar collectors in our climate can be effectively used exclusively to obtain hot water.
The amount of solar energy obtained in the winter in the heating season is so small that it makes it almost impossible to use it for heating buildings using solar collectors.
Home solar collectors
In order for solar energy to heat the room, water or other coolant from a flat or vacuum manifold, must have a temperature of at least about 40 ° C. The coolant should have such a temperature at the moment when the collector leaves. Otherwise, when it reaches the installation of heating, it will have too low temperature, insufficient in order to warm the floor.
And too low the floor temperature is the low heating power. In the most frosts, the temperature difference between the collector and the environment can reach 60 ° C. Therefore, in our conditions, the only meaning has the use of direct solar heating only in passive houses.
Passive solar heating
The most effective is the flow of solar energy directly into the premises, that is, passive solar heating. In practice, these are large windows placed on the south side of the facade. It is important that the windows have the lowest coefficient of heat transfer, t. e. minimal losses through them of heat.
Sometimes it is worth completing them for additional maintenance of heat by closing blinds or shutters. But do not forget about the inevitable costs of electricity necessary for the action of solar collectors, that is, the operation of the drive of the coolant circulation pump.
