Heat pump – most often considered an alternative for electric heating. Compared to conventional electrical heating options: electric stoves, electric heaters, its operation is much cheaper.
The heat pump, consuming one unit of electrical energy, in return for heating premises is able to supply from 2 to 5 units of heat. In this regard, thermal pumps of classes are especially remarkable water – water and soil – water.
If the planned lower heat source for such a pump (the pipe buried in the ground will have an appropriate length), then you can use the relatively high temperature of this lower source all year round.
But it is from this temperature difference (between the temperature of the selection of heat of the lower source and the temperature during the dedication in the upper source) the efficiency of the heat pump depends.
High investment costs
Therefore, air pumps like air – water that use atmospheric air, in large frosts are ineffective. Therefore, compared with electric heating, the heat pump gives heat much cheaper. Which, unfortunately, cannot be said about investment costs for its acquisition.
Because the cost of acquiring a heat pump, depending on the type, power and configuration, can be estimated in the amount of three to ten thousand dollars. Heating with a heat pump, in the long run, may even be cheaper than gas heating if we evaluate further operation, taking into account the growth of energy prices for energy.
The inefficiency of the thermal pump in passive houses
And in any case, the heating by the pump will be cheaper than coal heating or heating with firewood, although much can depend on the situation and local conditions for each specific case. But in the houses of energy -saving, and especially in passive houses, the heat pump may not be profitable at all. Low heat loss from the building will not give the pumping pump the ability to pay off.
In a house that is connected only to electricity, but does not have access to the gas pipeline, a similar heating method should be considered. But do not get hung up, it is worth considering the issue of heating wider and from all sides. Because it may turn out that instead of investing money in a heat pump, it is worth warming the walls and increasing the thickness of the insulation?
