During the overhaul or reconstruction of structures, there is often the need to destroy part of the masonry. Dismantling can be carried out in various ways, the choice of which depends on the location of the design, volume of work and the desired result. Manual method of disassembling masonry involves the use of a mechanized or manual tool. Brick masonry on lime solutions is quite easily disassembled using a pick and scrap. For disassembling weak masonry, the blow is applied to horizontal seams under the bed of stone. Dismantling is carried out in rows on top of the structure.
Dismantling of stone on a solid cement of the solution is carried out using scarlet fees and steel wedges. Elements are clogged with a sledgehammer into the masonry seams. The speed of work increases when using a pneumatic or electric hammer. Stones made of bottle and lamp masonry are broken out with a crowbar and a pick. Stone arches are handed manually. When dismantling the arches, formwork is brought under the structure to prevent collapse of masonry.
