Polistyle ceiling tile foam has a lot of advantages. Low price, attractive appearance. It is easy to mount, you can paint. In case of damage, you can replace a separate element.
Preparation of the ceiling
Polystyrene tiles visually levens the surface of the ceiling, hide its minor defects. But only the foundation of repair work can ensure the durability and beauty of the new coating – the preparation of the surface.
If the surface is painted, then you can limit yourself to with washing, removing rusty and fat spots, as well as repairing serious damage. In the case of whitewashing, preparatory work will require more zeal. All layers of whitewashing must be scraped off. Then the surface is blocked completely with brushes. Rust, fat and other spots are displayed. The tile can hide these pollution, but they will definitely “leak” into the seams. Large potholes, cracks, sores of ceiling floors are plastered, put down. The ceiling is covered with a primer.
Important!
To avoid translating the dark surface of the concrete overlap, cover the ceiling with a thin layer of white paint.
Glue the tile
The tile can be glued in the usual way – “notebook to the cage” or from angle to angle.
The second method will visually expand the room, but in this case you will need a larger amount of material (approximately +15%), patience and a little skill.
Choose the second method. We determine the location of the first tile – usually the center. We conduct guides from it. The following tiles are glued along the guides. Glued tiles can be on PVA glue or liquid nails. If the ceiling is not very even, then an acrylic sealant may be needed to seal seams.
The new coating is ready. But staining will help to improve its operational qualities – acrylic water -dispersion paint. The paint layer will not allow pollution to penetrate the loose structure of the foam and the ceiling will retain its snow -white color. You can paint the foam ceiling up to 7 times.
