Digging a foundation for a foundation is an initial step in the construction work of the house. Already at this step, you need to decide on the choice: which tool to use for its performance is an excavator or a regular shovel?

Using mechanisms

• Work is carried out using an excavator, bulldozer, caterpillar small excavator or excavator loader. Choose equipment in the need for the type of work, the type of soil and the type of pits;

• the work is carried out quickly: the fertile (upper) soil layer can be removed in 3 hours, a pit for a basement or foundation – dig in a couple of days;

• the land from the pit can be immediately immersed in a dump truck and taken away from the construction site, it is easier to manage large stones in the ground;

• The equipment is rented together with the operator with an hourly payment or payment for shift (eight hours). If, for example, the working volume is small or the repair site is located outside the city line, the costs of transportation of equipment are additionally paid. Rarely the price of car transportation is beneficial in terms of saving from their use;

• Taxes, depreciation, operator insurance, fuel fees are added to the rental price of equipment. For an excavator, this is 300-400 UAH per hour or 3200–3400 UAH per day, for bulldozer – 2600 UAH per day.

It all depends on the version of the technique, the volume of the bucket, the type of soil and the situational plan of the territory.

Manually

• asks for the participation of several people who use ordinary inventory: bayonet and soviet shovels;

• contrary to the universally recognized judgment of the work, associated with the Earth, ask for skills and appropriate training, as well as attracting a person who performs technical supervision;

• work takes a large amount of time, which holds the laying of concrete in a trench or pit;

• it is harder to store the ground from the pit in one place (using cars) and remove from the construction site;

• the price of work will depend on the complexity of the soil;

• Digging the pit manually is the only option if, for example, there is no opportunity to use equipment. This happens in cases of difficult arrival at the site, maintaining a building near standing houses, the presence of a tree that grows near the foundation;

• Not every pit can be dug up manually. It mainly depends on the working volumes. When digging a pit for a home that has a basement, it is better to use specialized equipment for construction.
